Summary: It is the simple moments that change everything.
Authors Notes: A little something different. I wrote this in such a way that the HP fandomers will see one ship and the Narnia fandomers will see another. They both work and I think that it is fairly obvious which ships they are. :O)

Amazed

He has the brightest eyes she has ever gazed upon. Those same blue eyes that have seen so much, that have seen the world and so many more years than she, gaze into hers with so much intensity that she cannot look away.

She wants to say the words. She looks in his eyes and she wants to tell him what she has felt for what seems like forever. But terror seizes her tongue and she cannot change the relationship they have, she cannot risk what they have right now. Because although she desperately desires more with him, she would rather the friendship they have now than nothing at all.

He stares at her lips, which she is absentmindedly biting. He wants to reach out and thread his fingers through her chocolate hair. He wants to claim her as his own, consequences be damned.

She smiles shyly at him. They have known each other for so long and yet he makes her so nervous. She steps forward, looking up into his eyes as she invades his personal space.

He looks at her young face and a far corner of his mind remembers when they first met all those years ago, how young and smart and determined she was. He slowly raises his hand, gingerly placing his fingertips on her soft cheek.

She breathes a shaky breath at the contact, her eyes fluttering closed. She reopens her eyes, smiling up at him. She places her hand atop his, curling her fingers around his.

He leans in close, so close that when he whispers her name their lips brush together. And then he presses his lips to hers, mouths meeting in a gentle embrace. He slowly deepens the kiss, tracing her lips so she opens her mouth and touching his tongue to hers.

She breaks the kiss, slightly breathless as she leans her forehead against his, smiling. She wraps her arms around him, pressing their bodies together, and then she does say the words.

He feels her breath on his ear as she whispers the words he never thought he would hear and his heart skips a beat. He grins, pressing a soft kiss on the slope of her neck, feeling her pulse beating beneath his lips. He repeats her words against her skin, placing his hands on her back and drawing her to him.

She feels so warm and content as they embrace in the silent room. She is amazed by him; she always has been and she always will be.

Did you leave it ambiguous so we could read into it what we wanted, or is it actually someone, and you're just not telling us?

I can read into that James/Georgie or Me/Someone else. =D

I love that this has no specific pairing. You're completely right - you can see Narnia & HP in it. It's gorgeous, and perfectly encapsulates that just-before moment :)

mmk, so i think it's fairly obvious who you're going for here, but...ack! i can't past the fact that the hp male in question (the one in my mind, at least) doesn't have blue eyes!

only i get anal over this stuff ::sigh::

Hmmm ... well ... the person I was thinking of has no specified eye colour in canon, at least as far as I'm aware. I have actually gone back and tagged the entry so check it out and see if we were thinking the same thing.

it's strange, because i think literally every fic i've ever read has him with some sort of hazel/amber eyes - someone really should make a definitive list of what we don't know canon-wise, cos some of these fanon things seem so universally accepted - it makes my head hurt :(

When in doubt, I check the lexicon. And if it doesnt say there, I go with whatever I want. :O) I've always pictured him with blue/grey blue eyes, but thats just me (and the potterpuffs *grins*).
