A few people have asked me about where I stayed while I was away, so for my next holiday story, the theme is: hotels. I dont know what people want to hear about so if there is a particular part of my trip you wanna know about drop me a line and I'll be sure to tell you about it.

Cut for length )
When I finally upload some pics, I'll add them to the entry so you can see some of the rooms/views for yourself. :O)

Upcoming stories: The Day Trips (Niagara, Grand Canyon etc), The Museums.
(feel free to request what you want to hear about)

So I posted my little postcards while I was away, but I decided to post some holiday stories over the next month. I figure its the best way to tell you about my holiday in small snippets so you dont have to read one ridiculous long post. Plus its good for me so I can read these back in years to come. :O)

Story One: The Fangirl.

So, as you can imagine, I had a lot of fangirly moments while I was away. When I was in London we found the spot from the Rose episode of Doctor Who where Chris Eccleston is standing by the Thames with the London Eye like a halo around his head. We also went to Platform 9 3/4.

I saw lots of people I like and respect in various shows. Siobhan Donaghy (former Sugababe whose solo stuff I like) was Mimi in Rent. George Wendt (Norm from Cheers) played Edna Turnblad in Hairspray. Claire Danes was Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion (at one point I was standing about two steps away from her - she is shorter than me, has the tiniest wasit ever (though I'm sure the costume helped) and is just gorgeous). Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner were the leads in Cyrano de Bergerac (Kevin Kline is one of the best actors ever. Seriously, he was brilliant. Cannot say enough good things about him.)

But my ultimate fangirl night came when I saw Macbeth in London. Before going to the show I went to Waterstones, just near the theatre, in search of David Thewlis' new book. I pulled it off the shelf and what did I see - it was autographed by the author!!! Thats right, David Thewlis had signed my book. So, excited about that I went to the Gielgud, and found I was sitting in one the boxes. I was so close to the stage I could look the actors in the eyes!

So yeah, within the space of a few hours I bought something that David Thewlis had touched and signed, and then I saw Patrick Stewart on stage and actually made eye contact with him. My inner fangirl could not stop flailing. :O)

Oh, and for those of you wanting pics, they will be coming. There is a reason for the delay, which I will tell you when I post them, but I should be posting some by this weekend at the latest.

Hi All.

Sorry its been so long between emails. But I havent had a chance to get to a computer all week.

So, this is my last night in New York. And yes, my last night is consisting of takeaway chinese (delivered to the hotel lol), internet, washing clothes and repacking (have bought a second suitcase - havent really bought that much, at least not in comparison to Laura, but I think I am in danger of going over the weight limit with just one bag). I am such a party girl. :O)

But I have gone out a few nights here - if you count going to Broadway shows as going out. Come on, what else did you expect from me?? :O) Have seen four shows here, and saw three in London, so I am very happy with that effort. Have gotten to see quite a few awesome (and just famous) people on stage - Kelly Osborne (she of the not awesome just famous category lol), Siobhan Donaghy, Patrick Stewart, Kevin Kline, Jennifer Garner and Claire Danes. Kevin Kline is made of win.

So what else have I been doing in New York? Went to Canada for the day (okay, so it was Niagara falls, and I was in Canada for less than two hours, but its still fun to say), went to a few museums (and saw more Van Gogh!!!), did a lot of shopping, went to the Central Park Zoo, met up with [livejournal.com profile] letmypidgeonsgo and so on.

Flying to Vegas tomorrow morning. My shuttle to the airport is 5am!!! Have the day in Vegas, then to Cirque du Soliel that night. Next day is my Grand Canyon trip. Then fly home late the next night.

Cant believe the trip is nearly over. Have loved it all (well, most of it, nothing is perfect right) and though part of me wants to keep travelling forever a part of me will be happy to get home. I am so sick of wearing the same clothes all the time. LOL. Living out of a suitcase is so not for me.

Not sure if I will get a chance to write again. Will see you all when I'm back online!!

Love Rach

As always, copied from the email to home:

Hellooooo.

Bet you didnt expect to be hearing from me again so soon, huh?? :O) Well I am back in London and wanted to go online to check out cinema times (for a movie thats not coming to Oz until December before you all make a fuss LOL) and check out what the London Pass can get us into (but of course that page isnt loading *rolls eyes*).

Not much to report I'm afraid. We didnt end up going to Disney - I didnt sleep well the night before coz I felt sick and I ended up staying in bed until 1pm. I never even do that at home. So yeah, had a quiet day in the hotel room. But in the end it was probably good we didnt go - it rained all day. Also didnt make it up the Eiffel Tower at night, for various reasons which I wont go into now. I did end up seeing Stardust in a cinema on the Champs Elysee. It was very strange watching it with French subtitles. But that is way better than watching French TV - everything is dubbed, there are no subtitles. I reckon that would annoy me so much to watch all the time. Subtitles are seriously the way to go.

So Paris is all over. I have mixed feelings about leaving. Its such a beautiful city, and we did so much, and there was even more we wanted to do. But the whole 'foreign language' thing can get a bit draining at times. Its nice to come back to somewhere where I feel more comfortable. I'm excited to move on to new places and things. Also, catching the train from Paris to London rocks. So much easier than a plane. I wanna catch a train everywhere now. LOL.

So whats on for London, I hear you ask. Well, we havent exactly decided, though I think a trip to the Globe Theatre and to the Tower of London are on the list. I tried to get tickets to Macbeth (with Patrick 'Picard' Stewart in the lead) but its sold out until about three days after I leave London. Typical.

Anyway, better head off.

Catchya on the flipside. :O)

Love Rach

I'm in Paris!!!! Once again, just copied from an email I'm sending home:

Bonjour mes amies.

Just a quick email to let you all know I'm alive and well. And this will be a short email because in France all the keys on the keyboard are in different places and so I can't type quickly. LOL.

So today we are moving away from the Contiki accom to our own hotel. It could not have come soon enough - the Contiki hotel was so crappy. Have seen a lot in paris - went to versailles, the louvre, musee d'orsay, catacombs, the opera house, the champs elysee, the eiffel tower, the notre dame, had a night cruise along the seine etc. Have hung out with some of the contiki people a bit - having dinner together each night etc. The first person I met on the tour was from [insert home town here]!!! she seriously lives about a minute from my house. So funny.

Have a few things planned for my last few days in paris - the musee rodin, euro disney, some shopping, going up the eiffel tower at night etc. And then its back to london. So weird but in a way going back to london kinda feels like going home. LOL.

Anyway, better leave it there. Gotta get back to the hotel and check out and move to my nice new hotel. :o)

Hope you are all well.

Love Rach

PS - once again, please forgive all the bad spelling and grammar and lack of capital letters. French keyboards are hard enough as it is. LOL.

PPS - I will leave comments on this time, but I dont think I will get a chance to reply.
tattooedsiren: (stock-la tour eiffel)
Copied pretty much from the email I sent home to my family:

Hello!!!!!

So I made it London in one piece. And all on my lonesome. How good am I??? :O)

Flight over was not bad. For my Singapore to London flight, I swear the plane was at less than a third capacity. So I had a row to myself and lay down and could stretch out and be comfy for the whole ride. It was still a looooong flight, but I was able to relax a lot more which meant I didnt feel like a zombie when I arrived.

So, kept it fairly low key on my first full day in London. I went into a clothes shop and came out £80 poorer - but most of that was for a winter coat. I also got a nice top, two hats and a pair of gloves. Went down to the banks and saw Big Ben, the Eye etc. Lots of awesome street performers (or buskers, whatever). Went to Stonehenge and Bath yesterday. Stonehenge was way awesome. It looks amazing. Bath was cool too. The Roman Bath house rocked. I am still freaked out by how old everything is.

Went out to dinner last night with a bunch of people from the trip. There were about 10 of us - apart from me and Laura I think they were all American or Canadian. Good people though.

Today we went out into London to sightsee. Dragged a couple of the people from dinner last night with us. Went on the London Eye then on one of those big sightseeing buses. Tonight the four of us are going to see Chicago - with, if you can believe this, Kelly Osborne as Mama Morton. Should be interesting.

Off to Paris tomorrow!!!!

What else can I tell you??? Weather has been good. About 15 or so each day, but fine and sunny. Perfect weather for me. :O) Today was the only day so far where the weather wasnt perfect. Was a bit cooler and overcast, so being on top of an open bus was interesting. Its now just starting to drizzle. But otherwise its been great. Our hotel is ok - although being on the second floor of a hotel near a main road sucks - loud noises all night every night. But what can ya do???

Should leave it there. Time is money (in this case, pounds).

Hope you all arent missing me too much. :O)

Love Rach.

PS - forgive any spelling issues. I'm in a rush and the keyboard sucks.

This is it folks. I'm outta here. :O)

If I get a chance to get online I might update and let you all know how my holiday is going. If not, see you when I get back.

And of course I had to update my LJ title to something slightly holiday related. Closer to the Sun - Guy Sebastian

Take care of yourselves.

Let me give you the lowdown of how things have progressed this last week.

  • Last week, after emailing my agent and getting a reply several days later, I made an appt for last Saturday to go in and pick up my tickets
  • At about 4.30pm on Friday, my agent emails to say she is sick and going home and wont be in tomorrow. She says I can go in the next day as planned and get them from someone else or see her next week. I email back STRAIGHT AWAY to say I have next Wed and Thurs off work (I'm flying out Thurs night) and is she in then. I get no reply.
  • Called her on Monday to say I didnt go in and is she in on Wed/Thurs. She says yes, she will be in on Wednesday. I say I will see her then.
  • I go in today. My agent is away sick. So I get my tickets from someone else there. Turns out my agent gave my last date for my insurance as the day I board my plane in America, not the two days later when I arrive in Oz. Fine. No biggie. New!agent fixed that so I am covered for my flight. New!agent continues to go through all the paperwork and tickets and hotels and tours. And then I realise - there was no mention of the Grand Canyon Tour. I mention this to new!agent and she says there is no record of a Grand Canyon Tour. So I said I would come home and see if I could find a copy of an invoice with the Grand Canyon details on it. Couldnt see anything. But I have a copy of an email from my agent saying she has booked it. And [livejournal.com profile] auxetoiles23 and I took it into our calculations for how much we had to pay and we did.

So its about ... 30 or so hours until I board my plane and I am still fucking organising my holiday!!!!!

I cant believe I didnt notice the Grand Canyon tour was missing from the invoices she sent me. But more to the point, I cant believe she didnt include it. New!agent is currently trying to figure out whether it was booked or not. Waiting to hear back from her.

I am so mad at my agent right now. Long time readers of my LJ will know this isnt the first stuff up I've had. My agent is a great girl, and we get along well, but at the same time I am paying a ridiculous amount of money on this trip and I have had too many fucking problems.

Sorry to rant like that but I had to get it off my chest. Will of course keep you updated. This thing better sort itself out right quick. They better not ask us for more fucking money for this trip.

Grrr......

GIP. Again. James in a hat ... *drool*

*

Okay, so here is a rundown of my weekend.

Friday:

My boss left work at about 1.30/2.00ish and tells me I can leave now too. That would be awesome, if she didnt pick the one day I was staying in the city to go out after work. Of course the one day she says I can leave early I cant anyway. But then I decided if she said I could leave early it meant I could leave work and go shopping. :O) So I did. I bought a few DVDs - The OC Season Four (the only season I've bought - Ryan/Taylor FTW), Dead Like Me Season One (so I dont have to borrow it off my suster anymore) and Liar Liar (it was on sale).

Then E (my sister) and I went to Lygon St and had dinner. It was drizzling but we still decided to eat outside coz the cafe was hot and stuffy, and there were large umbrellas so we wouldnt get rained on. Which was fine. And then it started raining sooo heavily. Biggest raindrops ever. And it was fine, we got a bit of mist from the edges of the table but still not rained on. But then I realised, all the rain was falling onto the ground, and rolling down the slight slope of the footpath, and the bottom of my jeans got soaked. Not fun.

Then after eating we went and saw December Boys. It was good. It wont be for everyone - very character driven, as opposed to plot driven. Dan was excellent. Seriously. As for the Oz accent, I thought it was really good. I could hear the Brit coming through once in a while but on the whole, very good. I wont say more for those of you out there who havent seen it and dont want to be spoiled.

Saturday:

In the morning (like 9am) E and I went shopping. I needed a new top for the hens night I was going to that night (and for my trip) so I needed her second opinion. We did a few other things while we were out before I went back to her house to make a post over at [livejournal.com profile] hermione_ldws saying the result and challenge posts would be coming later because my net at home had died. Thats right, it has died again. Stupid bigpond. Anyway, then I left E's and went to pick up [livejournal.com profile] auxetoiles23 from the station.

[livejournal.com profile] auxetoiles23 and I are going overseas soon but we hadnt actually met each other before. LOL. But it was totally great. *squishes her* I took her back to my house coz my mum wanted to meet her. I think my mum wanted to make sure she wasnt a 45yo male or something, since we met online. LOL. So she met my mum and I showed her around my place and some of my stuff from my last holiday. Then we went to Highpoint. Got some food, did a bit of shopping for the trip, and went and saw The Nanny Diaries. It was okay - not as funny as I hoped but still okay. Pretty much what you expected it to be. Then we left and I dropped [livejournal.com profile] auxetoiles23 at the station before heading home. The next time we see each other will be in London!!!

I got home from Highpoint, got changed, and then my friends L and C picked me up to go out to the Hens Night. Honestly, C and I were a bit confused as to why we were invited. We arent that close with the bride (we were friends in high school - though not even close friends - and we only really see each other once or twice a year). Anyway, L dropped us off (he somehow didnt get an invite to the bucks night, despite being better friends with the groom than we are with the bride AND living with the groom for a bit in the past). C and I decided we were there because a) another high school friend is maid of honour, and we are close with her, and b) to make up numbers. LOL. Anyway, it was at one of those theatre restaurants. It was an okay night. There were a few funny moments - the climax of the show being one of the male actors gracing the stage in a Borat mankini comes to mind. LOL. So wrong but so funny. C and I didnt go out afterwards - L came to pick us up and I went home to bed.

Sunday:

E and I were supposed to go see Stardust. But by then I was knackered. LOL. Also, our older sister J was having one of those Enjo parties, so we thought we should probably go. So I went to J's at about midday so I could user her net for a bit before the party. The rest of the day was spent on the couch watching The OC.

So hopefully E and I (and her boyfriend) will be seeing Stardust some time this week.

Since I have had no access to the internet, I have been skimming my flist at work. It got up to something like skip=250. If I missed anything, please let me know.

Re: fic. I have been working on my [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus fic, since its due a few days after I get back from my holiday. Alas, that means I have had to put aside my [livejournal.com profile] 7spells series. For those of you who remembered the writers block I was having with the smutty parts - I have written a bit more since the last time I complained about it, but its still not done. *cries* Hopefully I'll come back from my trip all rejuvenated and finish it in one go. *crosses fingers*

20 days until my holiday!!!!! *needs to start buying travel essentials*

Going to see Josh Groban in concert tonight. If anyone cares and wants a recap, let me know.

Grand Final day tomorrow. Those who have known me a long time know I have many qualities which makes me think I should be living in Europe or somewhere, coz sometimes I feel so un-Australian. AFL is one of those reasons. I really dont like it. The Grand Final is the only game a year I watch (reluctantly) and thats only coz my sister and brother-in-law have everyone over for a BBQ lunch and drinkies before the game.

Anyway, not much else to report I'm afraid. I'm so boring. Feel free to leave a comment if you wanna chat about anything and everything.

And now, a fun meme...

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

[livejournal.com profile] nelliewu wanted to know about:

David Thewlis: Ah, David. I first saw David back in the day in Dragonheart. Although at the time I didnt think he was all that attractive (he has bad hair in that movie LOL - plus I was quite young) I do remember being drawn to him and his performance. Then when I heard he was gonna be in PoA I put the movie back on and was totally in love. Its his voice, I think. And his hands. Have seen him in many a movie (Timeline, Divorcing Jack, Gangster No 1, Dinotopia, Beseiged, James and the Giant Peach, Seven Years in Tibet, The Island of Dr Moreau, Kingdom of Heaven, The Omen...). And of course, Naked. He is so amazing in this film. He blew me away.

James McAvoy: Saw him in Wimbledon and didnt really notice him (also Band of Brothers - in which he was only in one episode). And then came Narnia. He owns that film. He was so awesome as Tumnus, and his chemistry with Georgie was so beautiful and real. After that, he was on my list, and I started seeking out his work. Have seen him in lots since. His awesome work includes Shameless, Children of Dune, Bright Young Things, Macbeth, Inside I'm Dancing, The Last King of Scotland, Becoming Jane... Words cannot express how much I am dying to see Atonement. Hopefully it will still be playing in London when I am there, otherwise I'll have to wait until December. James is cute and funny and has a lovely accent. Get on board everyone!! :O)

London: I think I've seen too many British films and TV shows, coz London has always interested me. I think its really beautiful and interesting without being overwhelming. Oh, and I'll be there in 20 days. :O)

Girt: At this point I've gotta give a shout out to my fellow FAPers!! LOL. Girt, for those of you who dont know, is a word in our national anthem. The line is "Our home is girt by sea." Girt means surrounded, and any time anyone (especially comedians) talk about the national anthem, they always complain about girt, and how no one uses it in every day conversations. i've always liked the word, and a few years back made it my mission to use it in every day conversation. I even included it in a few fics. :O) Girt for life!!

Jane Austen: Despite my own personal history, I am a romantic, and I love the Austen stories. I'll be honest, I probably watch the movies/mini-series more than I read the books, but they are all so awesome and beautiful. I cant pick a favourite, so dont ask me to. :O)

Labyrinth: Come on, who doesnt love this movie?? It was the first movie I remember watching. The whole Jareth/Sarah thing is interesting. When I was younger I obviously never even thought about their relationship. Then a few years back, I watched it for the first time in ages, and realised there was a lot of subtext going on with them, especially that 'fear me, love me' bit. And I was kinda freaked out by it. But then I watched it again and I totally got onboard with them. Possibly the root of all my cross-gen shipping. LOL. David Bowie is the man!!

Nine: As in, the Ninth Doctor. When I heard they were bringing Doctor Who back a few years ago I was interested in watching it, despite never seeing any Doctor Who before. But ABC put it on on like a Saturday night or something, so I never saw it. Then a few months ago, they were having a DW marathon on UKTV. I saw bits of it, but didnt want to stop and watch it coz I obviously had no idea what was going on and wanted to watch it properly (the funny thing is, now I've seen it, the bits I saw were from the first three eps, so I probably could have got on board with it at that stage LOL). Anyway, I decided to download it. I love Nine. I know I am probably in the minority of those who like Nine more than Ten. Christopher Eccleston is awesome. I knew of him, from things like Jude and The Others and 28 Days Later, and always thought he was really talented, and him as Nine was just perfect. I loved how he moved from serious to silly in a heartbeat. I wish he stayed on for more than a year.

Man, that turned out quite a bit longer than I anticipated. Sorry about that. :O)

Have a good weekend everyone!!

tattooedsiren: (labyrinth)
Comment and I'll give you a letter.
- You have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter.
- Afterwards, post this in your journal.

I got my letter from [livejournal.com profile] mrsquizzical. The letter she gave me was Y. I could not think of 10 things beginning with Y. So I went back and she gave me another letter - L. I decided to use the Y to do the other meme going around at the moment. :O)

In no particular order...
Love - Yes, its a corny and predictable response, but its still a worthy one
Laughter - Yet another corny and predictable response. :O) But seriously, whats better than a big laugh??
Lost - Okay, so its not a good as it used to be, but its still one of the most intriguing and unpredictable shows on TV.
Lollies - I'm a major junk food addict, what can I say. :O)
London - Yay for travelling. Didnt spend much time in London last time, only a few days, so will be there seven days this time!
Love of my Life - Dave Matthews & Santana - Come on, you knew I had to include some DMB love. :O)
Lord of the Rings - Still some of the best movies around. Simply stunning. And Fellowship is still my all time best cinema experience.
Labyrinth - One of the first movies I remember watching. And I love it as much today as I did then. Possibly where my cross-gen shipping tendencies came from. LOL.
Luke - Luke is my best friend. Has been for about nine years now. We dont see each other much anymore, but I will always consider him my best friend, and I love him dearly.
Live - the first band I was really into. I've seen them several times in concert. Their music was playing (coincidentally) in several major moments in my life, both good and bad, mostly bad, but I still love them.

Comment and I'll give you a letter. In your journal, list 10 of your favorite songs that begin with that letter.

In no particular order...
Yeah - Kelly Clarkson
You Don't Know Me - Jann Arden
You Know You're Right - Nirvana
You Make Me Sick - Pink
You Never Know - Dave Matthews Band
Your Mistake - Sister Hazel
You Belong to Me - Jason Wade
Your Winter - Sister Hazel
Youth of a Nation - P.O.D.
You Know My Name - Chris Cornell

If you want a letter, feel free to comment and I'll give you one. Let me know which meme its for. :O)

My parents, being the loving people that they are, have decided they will finally book the cruise they have been meaning to book, and they have booked their Hawaii cruise and will be leaving just a few days before I get back from my holiday. Which means I will be coming home to an empty house. At least I have a sister who loves me and will come pick me up from the airport. :O)

In HP related news - I'm seeing OotP in Imax 3D this weekend. Cant wait!!

As promised - an update about my holiday.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago from my travel agent saying that with the fare ticket I had I needed at least three stops and I only had two so I needed to have another stop somewhere. Isnt that a shame. :O) So, where does someone like me, someone who doesnt drink, smoke, do drugs, party, sleep around and all that stuff, where do they choose to visit. Thats right. Las Vegas. :O) In truth I'm not going so much for Vegas - more so I can see the Grand Canyon.

I wont go into the details (its a very long and very complicated story) but for the last two weeks we have been trying to organise the addition of Las Vegas to our trip. And finally today we have had a breakthrough. I am quietly confident that by tomorrow it will all be booked and ready to go. :O)

For anyone interested I am staying at The Signature at MGM Grand (warning: it might start playing music). If you are gonna do Vegas you gotta go five star all the way, baby! :O)

And to celebrate - here is some holiday-themed music for you all. If anyone has any similarly themed music they wanna share with me by all means upload me something.

London Still - The Waifs
A Foggy Day (in London Town) - Michael Buble
Paris - Delerium
Complainte de la Butte - Rufus Wainwright
Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore - Celine Dion
Englishman in New York - Sting
Leaving New York - REM
City Love - John Mayer
Las Vegas Nights - Hootie and the Blowfish
Pretty Vegas - INXS
Leaving on a Jet Plane - Chantal Kreviazuk

I have also decided that when I change my LJ subtitle I will share the song with you. So here are all the songs I have gotten my titles from.

X&Y - Coldplay
Granny - Dave Matthews Band
You Know My Name - Chris Cornell
Hosea's Wife - Brooke Fraser (if this works for you - and I think it will - I have totally found a way around the iTunes protection *grins*)

Did everyone hear the news about Anthony Callea??? Since I went to the same school as him and have met one of his ex-boyfriends I cant say I'm at all suprised. :O)
My mum and I were just talking about it at dinner. When my dad asked what we were talking about my mum says "Anthony Callea coming out of the cupboad." LMFAO.

I know I have been fairly quiet of late. Yes, I am still writing (though not as much as I would like I'm afraid) and I am still working on teh moodthemes. RL has been kicking my arse of late, hence why you guys havent seen much from me. But here is whats doing with me right now:

* Made it through the first challenges at [livejournal.com profile] raylor_lims and [livejournal.com profile] hermione_ldws. Huzzah!

* Have had some (for lack of a better word) issues with my holiday. Its a really long story which I wont go into - I am very hopeful that next week we can get it sorted and I can tell you guys about the changes to my holiday. I'm sure it will all work out okay - even better than my original holiday plan - but this limbo is so crappy.

* Dance has been translated into Russian!! Dance (in Russian). I got someone else to double-check the translation was spot on and she only saw one mis-translation. What should have been along the lines of she felt him tense was translated as she felt his arousal. LOL. Its been fixed now though.

* Because of the lovely Dave Matthews guest starring on an ep and me seeing some spoilery icons I finally caved and DL'ed all the S3 eps of House. :O) This also means that since I am now up to date and dont have to be worried about being spoiled again I have dipped my toe into the House fandom. Any of my US flisters into House??

* I went and saw Weird Al Yankovic last night. The concert itself once it actually started was very good. The rest of the night sucked. Here is how it went. There were 7 of us going so my half of the group met at my best friends house to meet with his work mate and his wife who had a seven seater and were driving. We got there at 5pm. Driver & Wife were supposed to be there at 5.15. He rocked up at 6pm - with no apology, nothing. This was extra annoying because one of my friends had specifically left work early and made the effort to be there on time. We got into the city fine but because we left so late we didnt have time to have a proper sit down dinner in a restaurant. So we went to a food court in Southbank and went to Nandos. The people there had major attitude, the cashier gave me a meal when I just ordered a burger and drink (and I didnt realise until too late), and when I finally ate said burger halfway through I bit into a small bone. Yeah. So anyway, we went and sat down in the theatre. Show was supposed to start at 8pm - at which time the support act, a crappy stand-up comedienne came on. She sucked. She left at 8.15 and then people were scurrying about the stage so we figured the show would start at 8.30. 8.30 came and went. 8.45 came and went. 9.00 arrived. The audience was getting a bit narky at this point so Weird Al came over the speaker to announce they were having technical difficulties with their projectors and they wanted to give the best show possible and they really appreciated our patience etc etc. We could tell before that that they were having tecnhincal probs but it should not have taken 45 minutes for them to announce it. Finally at about 9.20 the show started - with 2 out of the 3 projectors working. But like I said, once the show actually started, it rocked.

* When we were at the Arts Centre we saw posters for King Lear with Sir Ian McKellon. Thats right, Sir Ian is coming to Melbourne to do Shakespeare. I really wanted to go when I found out about it around a month ago but figuring no one would want to see Shakespeare with me I didnt ask. But when I showed the posters to my sis she was all 'that would be cool.' I take this as further proof I have the worst luck in the world. :O) So I called up this morning to see if they had any tickets left but of course they were all sold out.

* I had an RDO yesterday and went and saw Wild Hogs. It wasnt bad. And I saw a preview for PotC3 up on the big screen. *grins*

* For anyone who remembers this post with me squeeing with pride over my younger sis finally getting on board with the hp books - she is halfway through PoA and yesterday bought all the remaining books. *beams*

Well, I think thats everything. If you made it through all that you deserve a cookie. :O) Hope everyone has a good weekend. *loves*

I went and saw Guy Sebastian in concert last night. And I have to say: he rocks. He was funny and grooved all the way through the concert and was awesome whether they were rocking out or going near accoustic. The Palms is an awesome venue! And someone from the audience got up on stage and proposed to his girlfriend. So cute. The only downside of the night were the slightly inappropriate 40yo's sitting behind us. But despite all that, it was an excellent night.

And now to the good news.

I am going overseas!!

I paid my deposit this morning so all systems are go. I am meeting the awesome [livejournal.com profile] auxetoiles23 in London and the two of us are seeing the world together. Well, the London, Paris and New York parts of it anyway.

I leave on Oct 17 (technically I leave on Oct 18 since my flight is 12.50am, but I have to be at the airport on the 17th) and travel to London. We are doing a Contiki tour of London and Paris for 9 days, then spending two extra nights in Paris and four extra nights in London before heading off to NY for just over a week. [livejournal.com profile] puddleduck3 - don't hate me, but you know what I am gonna do in NY. :O) I arrive back in Oz on Nov 13.

So if anyone lives in these cities, or has been to tham of late, feel free to suggest good things to see and do. :O)
