My first full year of not living at home (ie no foxtel, no money, and no internet apart from sneaky downloads at my parents house) in 2011 gave me my lowest movie count yet. So I'm not at all optimistic I will reach 100 this year.

2009: 87 movies & 17 books
2010: 78 movies & 13 books
2011: 60 movies & 10 books (if I counted fic I woulda got past 100 I think lol)

2012 list )

Happy New Year all. :O)
Yes, I know the statement is late, but I am never around anymore. :O( Will try and be a better LJer in the New Year.

Well, once again, in 2010 I failed to crack the 100 movie mark. I was even down on the year before. :O( My totals stand thus:

2009: 87 movies & 17 books
2010: 78 movies & 13 books

100 movies & books - or more likely about 80 movies and 10 books )

I may or may not have just ordered One Day in the Life of Daniel Radcliffe.

What?

Well, the way I figure it, once I move into this new house of mine I certainly wont be able to buy anything like this. And since all my Christmas/birthday presents were house related I have saved a bit of money there. Plus, I deserve it. :O)

***

And just to make this post a bit less pointless, the meme thats doing the rounds:

Ask me any fandom-related questions in the comments. They can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

Questions can be as wacky as you want and have as many subparts as you like. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

Happy New Year everyone! ♥

Well, I didn't crack the 100 mark in 2009. I got to 87 movies and 17 books. Clearly the lesson is to stop rewatching my fave movies and try more new ones. That, and convince my peeps to go to the movies more often. LOL. And as for the books, I knew I wouldnt get a big number coz I dont read as much as I used to when I read on the commute to and from work. Add in me reading a few novel length fics for a few months there and there you have it.

So, here's hoping I can have a better list this year.

100 Movies & Books in 2009
tattooedsiren: (annehathaway&hughjackman)
I have bought and read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It was interesting how the whole zombie subplot was weaved throughout the whole story. There were a couple of moments that kinda grossed me out, but for the most part it was pretty awesome. Has anyone out there read it??

Everyone on my flist has seen Star Trek and I haven't. :O( I was supposed to go on the weekend but various circumstances prevented it. Instead I have to sit back and watch everyone else squee over it. Such a bummer. Hopefully we will get there this weekend.

Randomly found via imdb:
In the meantime, Hugh Jackman will be working with Anne Hathaway in the big screen adaptation of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Carousel.
I hope this is true. I know nothing about the musical itself, but I love both Hugh and Anne and since the Oscars I have hoped they would do something together. *icon*

Work is so boring right now. Its hard work trying to pretend you are actually working. I have been doing a bit of fic writing to pass the time. Hopefully the boss won't notice - and the end result will be okay. :O)

Hope everyone out there is doing okay. Drop me a line and keep me entertained.

I've never done one of these lists before and thought it might be interesting.

So I got an email about tickets for Equus being available through broadway.com and there was flailing and squeeing on my flist about stage seats, so I thought I would buy a ticket to another show and try my luck. I went to the broadway.com website but there was no mention of stage seats, so I went to telecharge.com and looked for tickets there. I looked at stage seating, but for some reason it made me nervous, so I decided to see what other normal seats I would be able to get for the same performance, thinking it would be in the back half of the theatre like my seat for the first show I'm going to.

It wasn't. It was third row from the front, aisle seat.

I quickly snapped up the ticket, even though part of me is waiting for it to all be revealed as a massive mistake. I thought seats that close would be part of the premium $250 seating and I'm not paying that much. Then I thought I was reading the seating chart wrong, but in the description it stated third row from front.

Here are the details. Someone reassure me that I'm not dreaming and I actually did score awesome tickets:

Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 8:00 PM
1 Ticket, Center Orchestra Row A, Seat 101
Total Cost: $126.00

*flails*

I also bought a ticket to The Little Mermaid. :O) That brings the total of show bought for my NYC trip to four (2 x Equus, 1 x The Little Mermaid, 1 x Cirque du Soleil). I am intrigued by Shrek, and since its opening while I'm there I will have to buy in advance. Otherwise, unless something awesome comes up, I am going to buy all my other tickets while I'm there.

******

In other news, I seriously hurt my back yesterday. I had to leave work I was in so much pain. Chiro had a go at it so hopefully I will feel better soon - although the only other time I have had this problem, in Dec of last year, I'm convinced the only reason I got better was the week away from work, (ie sitting at my desk all day long) and not the multiple trips to the chiro.

As such, I probably wont be online much the next few days, so I obviously wont be checking my flist. I have a fic I want to post maybe tonight but apart from that it will only be very short stints at the computer (ie checking my email and thats it) so if you have something you want me to see please link me.

Oh, and I am about a third of the way through Breaking Dawn, so no spoliers about that thanks.
:O)

Hope everyone out there is doing well.

Gacked frome everyone.

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy my response below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-word answers seldom help anyone out.

TattooedSiren's real life )

On a completely unrelated note, has anyone on my flist read any of the Doctor Who novels? Which ones would you recommend??
tattooedsiren: (dan rupert emma)
So I finished reading Eclipse on the train this morning. Those books sure do suck you in. Knowing pretty much nothing else about them, can anyone fill me in on when the next one is expected, how many more there will be etc.

I missed Dan on Nova this morning. :O( They just replayed a bit of it though. Seems he was in top form as always. Was talking to my sis on Sunday about Dan being on Rove later that night and she turned to me and said "So when are we going to see December Boys?" So either she knows I will want to see and she would be the only one who would go with me, or I have finally got her sucked in to anything HP related, and she wants to see it just because of Dan. I think its the latter. *beams*

I havent updated everyone re: ticket purchasing in a bit. And yes, I have bought more tickets. No more concerts this time though - this time we are looking at theatre. Bought a ticket to see Pygmalion on Broadway, with Claire Danes. Also got a ticket to see Spamalot in January. I saw this show on Broadway a couple of years back (with Tim Curry FTW) and now they are bringing it to Melbourne I'm going with my parents and sister. Oh, and did I mention - front row!! :O)

I really wish my Muse would let me finish my [livejournal.com profile] 7spells series. All thats left is the smut and I havent been remotely inspired to write it lately. But I really want to get it finished and posted before I go on my holiday (in just over 5 weeks time). So, my dear readers, a poll...

[Poll #1053415]

Also, a big hello to everyone who has friended me of late. Nice to see you around. :O)

Anyway, better get back to it. Have a good one.

tattooedsiren: (atonement cecilia)
New LJ subtitle - Gravity by John Mayer. And yes, I know its a bit weird given I'm not a man, but the sentiment still stands. :O)

I've finally gotten on borad with Twilight. Half my flist rave about it so I thought I would give it a red-hot go. Loved it. Have finished Twlight and am on to New Moon.

Went and saw Brooke Fraser in concert last night. She is so awesome. Really funny and down to earth. There were major technical problems all through the night though. Seriously, considering its these peoples jobs to make sure everything runs smoothly and they do a sound check beforehand I dont get how they can have probs throughout the whole show! *shrugs* Nah well. Highlight was Hosea's Wife - not only is it my fave song from her second album but they completely rearranged the music so that for most of the song it was just a minimal drum beat and her voice. Amazing. I was really hoping she would play Indelible - my fave song from her first album and my J/G theme song (*glomps fellow shippers*) but alas, got nothing. Oh well. Um, what else. Did I mention I was in the front row!! So cool to be in the front row for something. My first, and probably last, time. LOL. Oh, and I bumped into an old friend of mine in the lobby before the concert. That was funny. Havent seen him since May so it was great to see him. Think thats it. :O)

I wish my muse would return. I have been working on my [livejournal.com profile] sexy_brilliance fic and its twice the suggested word limit, so I spose thats good. But I still have not made much headway with my [livejournal.com profile] 7spells Trio fic. All thats left for that is to write the smut scenes, but I cant seem to write anything for it. :O(

Think thats about it from me. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

So I got to skip=285 on my flist and am too knackered to go on. As I said before, if you have anything you want me to see, leave me a link.

DH - I'm not gonna add more to my initial reactions. I have commented in a lot of peoples LJs - and I have to say most everyone had very similar reactions to stuff. I wont bore you with any more of my thoughts - but if you want to know my thoughts on any of it, feel free to ask.

DW update - have finished season two. I was so sad at the end. :O( Taking a bit of a break before jumping into S3. After that is Torchwood and Heroes.

For those who havent seen it - HP6 casting. If its true its awesome.

Fic update - I have a Viktor/Hermione fic thats about 90% done and a Harry/Ron/Hermione fic (well, my 7spells fic, so its more of a series) which is 5/7ths done. Hopefully I'll be able to get my Muse back onboard and be able to post them soon.

So dont want to go to work tomorrow.

*hugs flist*

I just finished. I am off to my sisters for the night and as such, wont be able to check my flist until tomorrow, by which time I am sure it will be skip=1000. But here are some of my initial thoughts.

DH )

I'll leave it there. There is lots more to discuss but I dont have the time right now. Feel free to leave me any links of stuff I've missed during my hiatus.

I can't believe its all over.

I know I have been fairly quiet of late. Yes, I am still writing (though not as much as I would like I'm afraid) and I am still working on teh moodthemes. RL has been kicking my arse of late, hence why you guys havent seen much from me. But here is whats doing with me right now:

* Made it through the first challenges at [livejournal.com profile] raylor_lims and [livejournal.com profile] hermione_ldws. Huzzah!

* Have had some (for lack of a better word) issues with my holiday. Its a really long story which I wont go into - I am very hopeful that next week we can get it sorted and I can tell you guys about the changes to my holiday. I'm sure it will all work out okay - even better than my original holiday plan - but this limbo is so crappy.

* Dance has been translated into Russian!! Dance (in Russian). I got someone else to double-check the translation was spot on and she only saw one mis-translation. What should have been along the lines of she felt him tense was translated as she felt his arousal. LOL. Its been fixed now though.

* Because of the lovely Dave Matthews guest starring on an ep and me seeing some spoilery icons I finally caved and DL'ed all the S3 eps of House. :O) This also means that since I am now up to date and dont have to be worried about being spoiled again I have dipped my toe into the House fandom. Any of my US flisters into House??

* I went and saw Weird Al Yankovic last night. The concert itself once it actually started was very good. The rest of the night sucked. Here is how it went. There were 7 of us going so my half of the group met at my best friends house to meet with his work mate and his wife who had a seven seater and were driving. We got there at 5pm. Driver & Wife were supposed to be there at 5.15. He rocked up at 6pm - with no apology, nothing. This was extra annoying because one of my friends had specifically left work early and made the effort to be there on time. We got into the city fine but because we left so late we didnt have time to have a proper sit down dinner in a restaurant. So we went to a food court in Southbank and went to Nandos. The people there had major attitude, the cashier gave me a meal when I just ordered a burger and drink (and I didnt realise until too late), and when I finally ate said burger halfway through I bit into a small bone. Yeah. So anyway, we went and sat down in the theatre. Show was supposed to start at 8pm - at which time the support act, a crappy stand-up comedienne came on. She sucked. She left at 8.15 and then people were scurrying about the stage so we figured the show would start at 8.30. 8.30 came and went. 8.45 came and went. 9.00 arrived. The audience was getting a bit narky at this point so Weird Al came over the speaker to announce they were having technical difficulties with their projectors and they wanted to give the best show possible and they really appreciated our patience etc etc. We could tell before that that they were having tecnhincal probs but it should not have taken 45 minutes for them to announce it. Finally at about 9.20 the show started - with 2 out of the 3 projectors working. But like I said, once the show actually started, it rocked.

* When we were at the Arts Centre we saw posters for King Lear with Sir Ian McKellon. Thats right, Sir Ian is coming to Melbourne to do Shakespeare. I really wanted to go when I found out about it around a month ago but figuring no one would want to see Shakespeare with me I didnt ask. But when I showed the posters to my sis she was all 'that would be cool.' I take this as further proof I have the worst luck in the world. :O) So I called up this morning to see if they had any tickets left but of course they were all sold out.

* I had an RDO yesterday and went and saw Wild Hogs. It wasnt bad. And I saw a preview for PotC3 up on the big screen. *grins*

* For anyone who remembers this post with me squeeing with pride over my younger sis finally getting on board with the hp books - she is halfway through PoA and yesterday bought all the remaining books. *beams*

Well, I think thats everything. If you made it through all that you deserve a cookie. :O) Hope everyone has a good weekend. *loves*
tattooedsiren: (text hp7date)
So I went to the movies yesterday with my younger sister. I won two free tickets to Perfume so went to see it. I was quite interested to see it, figuring Alan Rickman + Rachel Hurd-Wood + Dustin Hoffman = win. And it was good and interesting. But seriously, weirdest ending ever. Has anyone else out there seen it? Were you as shocked by the ending as I was??

Anyway, after the movie sis and I went shopping. I got some holiday stuff, which was cool. But the thing that made me squee? My beautiful sister is finally getting on board with the Harry Potter books. :O) She loves the movies but doesnt read much at all so has never read them, despite me trying to get her to for the last couple of years. But all of a sudden out of nowhere she decided she would finally read them - she bought the first three all in one go! *tear* *is proud*

Anyway, hope everyone out there has a good week. I know mine is gonna suck so I hope everyone else has a better one than me.
