Title: The Beginning of Everything
Ship: Remus/Hermione
Rating: PG
For:
chocky_mousse
Prompt: Harry Potter + Remus/Hermione + Gold + The Great Gatsby
Summary: He was in the library, of course.
This is pretty short, but I figured a little something something was better than nothing at all. :O)
When Hermione arrived home the first thing she did was seek out her husband. He should have arrived home during her absence, and so she slowly wandered from room to room in search of him.
He was in the library, of course. He was sat on the small settee, completely absorbed in the book he was reading. She smiled, moving into the room. The sound of the door creaking got his attention and he looked up. “Hi, honey.”
“Hey, she replied, leaning over and kissing his lips before sitting down beside him. “What are you reading?”
Remus lifted up the spine of the book. The Great Gatsby. Hermione laughed. “Finally! Took you long enough.”
“I told you I’d get around to it.”
“Yeah, before we even got together, so that’s what, four years ago? It’s a classic. I still can’t believe you’ve never read it.”
“Well I’m reading it now,” he grinned.
She smiled, snuggling into him, resting her head on his shoulder. He began reading it aloud, the familiar words rushing over Hermione like a warm blanket.
He finished the chapter and Hermione asked, “Do you like the name Daisy?”
“It’s alright, I guess. Hadn’t really thought about it. Why?”
Hermione sat up. She took his hand from the book and laid it on her stomach. “Because we are going to have to start thinking about names.”
Remus’ eyes went wide as he looked at his hand on her still flat stomach. He met her gaze with a shaky smile before leaning over and kissing her. “Really?” he asked, still in shock. They had had a false alarm about a year ago, and the disappointment was hard on both of them.
She nodded. “Really. I’ve just come from the doctors. She said I am two months gone and everything looks perfect.”
He just stared at her. “Have I told you today how much I love you?”
Hermione grinned. “No. How about you show me how much you love me.”
Remus tossed the book aside and leant down, pressing his mouth to hers and kissing her passionately…

Date: 2009-12-10 04:15 am (UTC)It's so like Remus to be late in reading a book like Great Gatsby.
