I havent really been posting a lot lately. I'm still reading the flist every day (at work), but when I am at home I've been completely ignoring LJ and have been DLing and watching Doctor Who.
I never thought I would say this but I am completely caught up with DW. I know! I've always been way behind but in the last few weeks I've watched a season and a half. LOL.
So, just some random thoughts on seasons 3 and 4 - put behind a cut just in case
*Martha was great. I dont blame her for falling for the Doctor, since he is made of awesome and he kissed her the first day they met (even though it meant nothing to him). I like that she could recognise she would never mean as much to him as Rose and so got out. And I love the fact she got engaged to the Doctor from Last of the Time Lords.
*S3 really was 'spot the actor'. In the Human Nature/Family of Blood arc alone there was: Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead), Harry Lloyd (Robin Hood), Rebekah Staton (Jane Eyre) and Thomas Sangster (Love Actually). Then in other eps there was Dean Lennox Kelly (Shameless), Christina Cole (Jane Eyre, again), Alexandra Moen (Tripping Over), Carey Mulligan (Pride and Prejudice) and Tom Ellis (Much Ado About Nothing (retold) - with Billie Piper LOL). Best season for guest actors ever.
*I like that Rose was mentioned and referrenced throughout the series. Too often on TV as soon as someone leaves the character is never mentioned again, even if they were a major character (yes, I'm looking at you Lost). So I liked that you could tell the Doctor was still thinking about her and missing her even while having fun and adventures with someone else.
* Love Donna. I love that she is totally uninterested in the Doctor romantically so there isnt any of that stuff going on. I like that she got along with Martha to the point of asking her to come along with them and that she asked about Rose when she first saw the Doctor again. Also, the way Donna and the Doctor first saw each other again in Partners in Crime was absolutely brilliant.
* Rose!!!
* Captain Jack Harkness is The Face of Boe. Brilliant!!!
I have to admit though, as much as Ten/David is awesome, I still prefer Nine. Is it weird that I like Nine more even though we only had him for one season and we've had Ten for nearly three seasons?
I just watched the DW trailer for the rest of the season. Damn I got chills. Cant wait.
So, now I am off to finish the latest season of Greys (the last ep I saw was the second last pre-strike ep) and then on to Torchwood. I have seen the first two eps already and like it so far.
Other than that, not much to report. Work is the same, the trip is organised, my sis is doing well (she is due with my first nephew/niece in about a month and a half), my parents are still away (and were on the HP train in England yesterday! so jealous)... Nothing ever changes.
Feel free to drop me a line and tell me whats new with you. :O)

Date: 2008-05-25 08:13 am (UTC)I've been Hermit Girl since I got home, but I'm juuuust starting to get back into LJ :) I'll be in Melly for the Queen's Birthday weekend, and possibly for a week or two after that - you're not planning on being away then, are you?
Glad you're up to date with The Doctor - how good does the trailer for the second half of S4 look? I don't want to get my hopes up, but if Dave's taking '09 off for theatre, maaaaybe Billie can wrap up her other commitments and we can have Rose for S5 *crosses fingers* Also, yay for Torchwood! Jack/Ianto ftw! :D
Can't believe your sis is nearly due - seems like only the other day that we were wandering round Highpoint talking about your impending aunt-hood. Time flies and all that.

Date: 2008-05-26 02:43 am (UTC)Welcome back home. You all good and settled?
I will definitely be around. I'm going nowhere until December LOL.
I seriously always thought I would be like a year behind with DW so I'm still surprised I caught up. We should really thank my sis for being slow with her X-Files DVDs, and giving me time to kill while waiting for her to get through the DVD so she can pass it on to me. LOL. The trailer looks freaking awesome. And way hardcore.
Love your plan re: season five. It totally works. Surely she must be coming back - otherwise why would we be seeing Rose trying to get back to the Doctor this season?
I know! Time flies huh. its way exciting. The babys room is sooo cute. I just wanna hang out in it all the time. :O)
Whats doing with you??

Date: 2008-05-27 08:35 am (UTC)Hahaha, I could see you hanging out in the baby's room, especially after the amount of time you spent in Baby GAP and Toy'R'Us o/s :D
Not much is doing here. Picked sis up from Kyogle the weekend before last - road tripped back to Sydney, stayed in a seedy motel in Coffs on Saturday night and ate bad pizza. Planning my trip south o' the border now, but it's hard cuz I've applied for this job at Macquarie Uni and the shortlist/interview process is next week. Awkward, cuz that was when I wanted to fly down. And if, amazingly, I got the job, it starts June 11 so I couldn't holiday as long as I wanted anyway. Ack, bloody inconvenient timing.
Other than that it's read, bludge, sleep, chauffeur family members to and from work. Excitement.
Everything planned and sorted for the Big Apple?

Date: 2008-05-28 02:38 am (UTC)If only Jen had said she was pregnant at the time we could bought some awesome stuff from all those Baby Gaps and Toys'R'Us shops. :O)
Dont you hate when things get complicated like that. Getting the timing right on those kinds of things really sucks. Good luck with the interview - what job is it for?
Yeah, everything is planned and sorted. I've booked my hotel, booked and paid for my flights, and have started buying tickets to things like Equus, Cirque du Soleil...
