I promise the voicepost is coming soon! :O)

So, I dont watch American Idol, despite the Aussie contestant. But I just saw that someone performed the classic John Farnham 'You're The Voice' on it (and correct me if I'm wrong but it wasnt the Aussie singer). Wow. It was nowhere near as good as Johnny, but I thought my fellow Aussies might be interested to see it.

Hmmmm...hate to say it but that was really not that great compared to John Farnham...then again he's still a kid so guess he wouldn't have that range yet...I missed the aussie contestant singing - is his name micheal?

Well thanks for posting I didnt get to see this part

No, he really wasnt. The song is deceptively simple but you really need a strong voice to pull it off. And his wasnt good enough. But hey, I'm all for bringing Aussie songs to the world. :O)

Ok...so the deal with David (the kid) is that he's only 16, and Tuesday night's performances had the contestants singing a favorite song from the year they were born.

When he started to sing, NO ONE knew what song it was. Seriously. NO OFFENSE to you Aussies, but I hadn't ever heard the song before, and I think most of us were all WTF? is that song? And especially from the 16 year old, in which there are loads of songs that came out in 92' that are more popular with the judges and the American people.

Again...no offense to you and your fellow Aussies...I love you all! But we were a bit bewildered.

However, the Aussie that is in the competition is really good as well, and kicked ass doing We Will Rock You that night. Actually, he does really well with Queen songs, as he sang Bohemian Rhapsody in Hollywood to get his place as a top 24.

But seriously? Our next American Idol will be David Cook.

He's fabulous!

No offence taken. :O) Thats why I was so surprised when I heard he sang it - coz I didnt think any Americans knew John Farnham. I get why you would all be a bit confused by him picking such an unknown song - that kinda thing generally isnt done on Idol. But the original version really is an awesome song. Its an Aussie classic. I think the problem is its deceptively simle - you hear it and think 'I can sing that' but you really do need a strong voice, and his wasnt strong enough.

I love that we have an Aussie in the top 12. You would think that would be enough to get me to watch it but I still havent. LOL.

David Cook - is that the guy who sang 'Hello' and 'Billie Jean'? He's good.

I haven't been watching American Idol this year either, but I heard the guys were kicking butt. Does Australia carry on their 'AI' type of contest as well? I remember your first winner, he had big bushy hair ^.^ !

We do have our own - Australian Idol. Yeah, the first ever winner was Guy Sebastian - who had an awesome afro. He is still my fave contestant ever - I saw him in concert last year and he was awesome.
