This is my first attempt at Sirius/Remus, so be kind. :O) And for all the Antipodeans formerly of FAP, the beautiful Rach requested, and was granted, the use of our favourite word. *grins*
Post-Mortem
He refuses to believe it. It simply cannot be happening. It can’t.
If only it were that easy. But he saw it with his own eyes. And it’s all over. He’s gone.
The man he loves is gone. The one who used to make him do his homework and would sneak into his bed to reward him when he got high marks. The one who grabbed his hand and led him excitedly about a house that could soon become their home. The one who suffered thirteen years believing himself betrayed. The one who helped to heal him. The one who would run long fingers from his head to his toes, lingering over the parts he knew tickled. The one that would kiss him every day. The one he loved.
Sirius sits there in silence, girt by friends who are mourning the loss just like he is. Every once in a while one of them will come and talk to him, leaving after a few minutes of being ignored. Harry is the only one Sirius will allow to stay with him. His godson sits by his side and rubs his back soothingly while he himself grieves for his lost friend. Harry is the only family he has left now, now that his soul mate has left him.
Sirius wonders how he will be able to function without him. The only thing that kept him alive all those years in Azkaban was knowing that Remus was out there believing the worst of him and he had to stay sane to break out and prove to him that their youth wasn’t a lie. So without Remus, who was his goal, his purpose, his anchor, was he destined to float away into obscurity?
Only time would tell. Time Sirius didn’t particularly feel like giving.
